What Do Our Shadows Hold?

What will we find when we explore the catacombs of our soul?

I wrote this poem in response to my introspection in 2003…

Awaken from Dark Fancy

In angst I shine my light to cast the demons from my soul.
Come forth thou darkened theater, depart your recessed hole,
Whose rot and fester haunt the hoard of my subconscious hold,
Do permeate my sight, my touch, my being’s every fold.
Forgotten, not forgiven, wretched tragedies, take flight!
Away! Begone, dark demons—oust the shadows by the light.
They are but vapors of dark fancy—creatures wrought in fear.
So see them as they are—awake! And know that love is here,
Rise up in waking presence full, awaken to love’s giving,
Awaken to love’s essence pure. Awake to join the living.

If we don’t look into our own shadows, we will never see the untruths that we have believed about ourselves that have, by default, formed the foundation of our lives.

Emotional Bleed-Through

How do I cope with the emotional upset around me and not be affected by it?

Why, when I’m focused on staying calm, out of the fray, and emotionally neutral, do I feel on edge and sometimes get drawn in?
BleedThru-StopThinkingSoLoud

In this year of unusual events, upheaval, and political divisiveness, emotions are running higher than usual.

What’s going on when I experience irritation, frustration, and even anger, throughout my day?

Are these all my own emotions? Or are they someone else’s? And even if they’re someone else’s, why am I affected by them?

The following tale may help.

In 2017, I was at rock-bottom financially, bank account at zero, savings gone dry, credit-cards close to maxed, and a roof over my head but no way to pay for it. I had sold my car the year before when I moved from Canada to Kansas City, in the US.
Two years prior, I had been a successful software developer but had grown to a point of emotional incompatibility with corporate subcultures and politics. And after two years out of the loop, I was rusty and unaware of the latest technological advances. A lot can happen in two years in the IT industry. All of my IT interviews had come up dry.

I was at a low point.

Giving my Power Away to the Mirror of Outside Authorities

According to some mainstream news outlets, Vice-President Biden has been “declared” the winner of the 2020 US presidential election. Biden has also “claimed” victory. In the minds of some, there remains a question of whether or not Biden was “chosen” by legally rendered ballots.

OutsideAuthoritiesMirror1

In my own reflection of reality, that question mark remains. Let’s stop there. What does that question mark tell me about me? In a quantum view of my reality, I take full responsibility for all aspects of my life, including the status quo around the outcome of the presidential election.

To most people, such a quantum view would be preposterous. After all, our 3D world is made up of solid objects and there’s so much around us that each of us has absolutely no control over, right?

Or is our world/universe actually rendered by some non-Newtonian laws of physics?

Waves of Awakened Awareness—Coming Home to Ourselves (Or Calling Forth My Team)

And What Our Childhood Fairytales Taught Us About this Time in Earth’s History

Has All Hell Broken Loose?

This year, we have experienced wave after wave of unprecedented global events: a worldwide pandemic, government-enforced lockdowns, paid opposition rioting and looting, massive counter-demonstrations, and social unrest and divisiveness across the world. It seems no part of the globe is left unaffected by these events.

Has all hell broken loose around the world?

Or is there something deeper going on?

For a moment, consider with me that, as a world, we have been put under a spell from which we are now awakening en masse. What if there have been control structures in place for millennia in our world that are so perfect, so pervasive, and so hypnotic that our minds, thought systems, and environmental conditioning, under the influence of these control structures, have us convinced that everything we perceive around us is our one and only, undeniable, unbreakable reality?

If this is true, how do we break the spell?

Is the outside world truly something that each of us has no control over? Is all of it going on in spite of anything we individually might choose or say or do?

Or contrary to these perceptions, do we somehow create our own reality? Regardless of what you believe, let’s start with what we can likely agree on—where we do have control—over ourselves.

So, with that focus, let’s look inward. Individually, what is our preferred reality? How have we swerved off the track from, or failed to achieve, our preferred reality? What has stopped us individually from realizing the potentials that we dreamt of in our reveries, desires, and imaginations? Why have we never achieved those dreams? Did we not believe in ourselves?

LightingCandles

Did we believe those who told us we were crazy? Were we “shooting too high”? Were we attempting the impossible? Were we disheartened by those who said, “Who do you think you are to believe you can achieve what you dream?”

Groupthink and Awakening from the Dream

Warning: Not for the politically-correct faint-of-heart.

This definition is care of Psychology Today:

Groupthink is a phenomenon that occurs when a group of well-intentioned people make irrational or non-optimal decisions spurred by the urge to conform or the belief that dissent is impossible. The problematic or premature consensus that is characteristic of groupthink may be fueled by a particular agenda—or it may be due to group members valuing harmony and coherence above critical thought.

Sometimes I Wakeup CrabbyI read a Facebook post today opining how “up” has become “down” and “down” has become “up”. The tail now wags the dog in many ways throughout our society. The Facebook poster talked about what I call the groupthink of enforced political correctness. Yet these “conventions” of political correctness are now strangely accepted as normal and sane.
