This post is a different mode of expression from others recently. It’s an original poem that expresses in broad strokes my journey out of dark night back to inner-guided life.
Inner Compass
To light my way in journey out of night,
Such gifted guides illumined bright my sight,
To show that not another’s mind or part—
But only mine, the knowing of my heart—
Could ever bring tranquility or rest
To such deep yearnings held within my chest.
My guides suggested my true value stood,
Apart from others judging how it should,
Or needing others’ power be released,
But simply by my own self-trust increased,
Thus not by others’ sanction or decree,
But by my own core essence, true and free.
Awareness brought acceptance of myself,
Rekindling dreams left rusting on the shelf,
Unseen, ignored, forgotten, tied, and bound,
Thus bringing into light what now was found.
My inner guide no longer seen as wrong,
Could now be given voice in verse and song.
At last I knew, with clarity my guide,
My heart at peace and true, now open wide,
That higher mind and heart had shown my way,
If only I had given them their say.
Now may I listen for my heart’s delight
That I may know my journey into light.
What does this stir within your spirit now?
Seek you to find yourself but wonder how?
Is this the call you seek in midst of night
For help that guides your journey into light?
In freedom let us listen, speak, and feel
To know what balm lets loose our hearts to heal.
